4/19/17 | Meeting Summary
Board Meeting: Arya and Diya made some closing statements and talked about what was good, not so good, and what we should be working on in the year to come. In the end, our goals for the coming year are to become more responsible and accountable, and we hope that in the next year, we can each take more initiative. We also went around and each board member shared some of their ideas for the coming year. The ideas included fundraising (as opposed to using our parents’ money to buy things to donate, purchase things to make, etc), working on our group dynamic so (especially newer members) feel more welcome in the group, and doing more community service/social projects/events. For next meeting, we hope to bring some more specific ideas of organizations that we can work with/fundraise for and maybe some social events that we can do in the coming year.
Group Meeting: After introducing the new board, we had a public speaking/speech writing workshop with Mr. Mankad. During the workshop we worked in groups to each make one minute speech on why/why not America is on the “right” path with he new administration and we made high school graduation speeches. As we wrote our speeches and got up to speak, we focused on making sure to hit the 3 main aspects of a speech that we had learned in a previous workshop: ethos (credibility), pathos (passion/emotion), and logos (logic).
