1/15/18 | Meeting Summary

Board Meeting:

We discussed the possibilities of when the next social event would occur. Our decisions were to have two, one soon and the other in the early summer, or have one in March or April. We decided to present multiple options to the whole group. For community service we discussed the idea of gathering old Indian clothes to send to India. We thought that we could potentially raise money for the shipping costs through a bake sale outside a place like Stop and Shop or Roche Brother. We also talked about our event speaker, and whether or not we should have the two speakers we decided on, Keshav's mother and a lawyer who works with domestic violence cases especially among South Asians, come on the same day and forego the traditional meeting and instead just having the two speak, or on separate days and set aside two meetings for that. We also discussed the re-elections for next year and whether or not there should be changes to the number of people on the board. We decided that the number of people we have right now is a good number.

General Meeting:

To start off the meeting, we recapped what was talked about in the board meeting. We discussed about whether we would want to have our two guest speakers present during the same meeting as a workshop style meeting or to separate them into two separate meetings. After that we saw a slideshow that Anu Aunty put together and talked about stress, expectations, and school and how to handle it. A big topic of conversation was automatic vs. non automatic actions, and what non automatic actions we have that decrease our productivity. We each listed a small goal to change something non automatic in our daily routine to automatic that would help us increase our productivity at home while doing homework and other daily tasks. We are supposed to work on this goal at home while being accountable to our buddies so that we stick to our goals.
